Come up and see my etchings….

I went to a performance one evening at the Palace in Peliatan and got talking to a Balinese man who explained that he is a painter and often paints in black and white, which I expressed interest in.

He invited me to his studio and so I jump on the back of his bike, as you do, and we go to take a look.

Every verandah was literally smothered in paintings as there are 7 painters in his community compound, but could he find his black and white ones – no he couldn’t.  Never mind, I saw lots of other wonderful coloured works of art from traditional Balinese style to modern and abstract paintings.

Having said that, Ubud is chock a block full of fabulous artists, so wonderful paintings can be found in art galleries on every street corner here.
