First guests

The first guests, other than me of course, arrived at Rumah Jepun on Monday night…

A couple from Italy stayed in the River View Room and a couple from Russia took the Lotus View Room.

They both happened to arrive quite late in the evening and were in need of refreshments… so pots of tea and coffee were soon brought to them by Gede, the resident ‘room boy’ (that’s what you usually call accommodation staff here – or ‘pembantu’).

There are 6 Papaya trees in the garden!

We had also just been eating some freshly picked papaya off of the tree in the garden, it was perfectly ripe.

We shared some of it with our guests.

Both couples intend to stay just 3 days….

Hmmm, we will see – as most people who come to Ubud for such a short while soon realise that even 30 days are not enough!

They had the benefit of being the first guests to sleep in these lovely brand new rooms and, even though I’m now in London, I got the message that they slept well.

I wonder if they took breakfast on their balcony, on maybe on the bale (gazebo) or the new garden furniture where we drank tea to celebrate the arrival of the new pots, flowers and grass – that has been newly laid.
