More tall the tree, more big the wind…

Yes, very deep.  But what does it actually mean?

Well, imagine a dense forest.  It’s full of leafy trees swaying to the tune of the wind.

But there is one tree towering over all the others.  Scratching at clouds as it reaches towards a lofty sky.

By asserting itself above the rest of the forest it, alone, takes on the full force of the wind.

There are no friendly, neighbourhood tall trees to share the buffeting effects.

There’s no let up from the relentless, remorseless wind as it whips leaves into shreds and tries to tear limbs from the trunk…

More tall the tree, more big the wind.

So much more poetic than ‘sticking your head above the parapet’, don’t you think?

Thank you, Bali, for such a lovely phrase.
